The Pink Panther cartoon character
was created by Isadore "Friz"
Freleng for the opening title
sequence of Blake Edwards' 1963
classic crime caper The Pink
Panther, which starred Peter Sellers
as Inspector Clouseau. The cartoon
cat received better reviews than the
film, and a series of animated
shorts were put into production, the
first of which, The Pink Phink, won
an Academy Award. Pink Panther
continued to appear in introductions
to all of the Inspector Clouseau
sequels as well as being in his own
movies and shows.
